UNIVERSITY OF UTAH

Shaky spent his first two years of college at East Los Angeles Junior College. Shaky's hardwork and dedication earned himself a full-ride scholarship to play football at the University of Utah. Shaky played wide receiver, running back, wildcat quarterback, punt returner, and kick returner for two years, before graduating with a bachelor's in Sociology. During his time at Utah, he had several record breaking punt returns. Shaky became Utah's 15th first-team All-American as a senior. Shaky's 572 punt return yards in a season  made him the only player in Utah history to record 500 yards in punt returns in a single season. This punt return stat also broke the Mountain West Conference record. Shaky's 695 yards in career punt returns ranks 3rd all-time at Utah. In 2009, Shaky was nominated for the Orange Bowl Courage Award. Shaky completed his collegiate career with 483 receiving yards, 1050 kick return yards, and 695 punt return yards.

College for Shaky was not only about his performance on the field. Not long after arriving in Salt Lake City, Shaky was granted custody of his younger brother, Fish. Unlike many of Shaky's teammates, he was not just a college athlete, he was a guardian. He was a protector and role model for Fish. Shaky wanted to remove Fish from the rough life in Baltimore to allow Fish to achieve his dreams as Shaky was able to do.
